We, humans, are a social species, and that’s why words and how we communicate have the power to shape our emotions. With that in mind, I have gathered together 23 quotes that I believe will inspire and fortify you for whatever 2023 may bring. They are the words of iconic leaders like Nelson Mandela and John F. Kennedy, the poet and author Maya Angelou, holocaust survivor and psychotherapist Viktor Frankl, and the Toltec sage Don Ruiz Miguel.

The Greater Impact of Kayaking
This summer I kayaked for the first time ever. My brother Brian, a cardiologist, was my coach, and he was very patient with his older and not-very-co-coordinated sister.
As we ventured out into a tidal lagoon in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, he told me that the most important thing was to just keep paddling. Even if you don’t use a lot of strength, he said, you will be fine as long as you keep moving.
The Greater Impact of Understanding the PAIN Factor
This morning I had a rather painful physical therapy session for what has been diagnosed as a frozen shoulder.
While Mark, the therapist was twisting my arm into a rather uncomfortable position, he asked me why it took me so long to deal with the problem. “The reason it’s so sore” he said, “is that you waited far too long. If you had come in sooner, it wouldn’t be such a long journey to recovery.”

“New Year has come and gone, and every year the same thing happens. You make resolutions, and within a few weeks, it’s all gone — the enthusiasm and the hope…
Mixers Gain Their Own Momentum
The purpose of the Greater Impact mixers is to connect with no more than 2 to 3 people in a meaningful way. My motto of NOT working the room seems to resonate, especially for people who find it difficult to do the mindless cocktail Chit chat that they feel is expected of them.
So, we provide a pressure free environment, where you feel perfectly ok to have a real conversation with a couple of people and not feel that you have missed out or been less than productive.
Tips To Help You Make It Happily Through This Holiday Season
As we all know Holiday time is sometimes stressful. We often find ourselves spending time with family who although we care a great deal about, we don’t have that much in common with. So here we present some 5 helpful communication tips:
- We all know the power of showing interest in others. Dale Carnegie put it so well when he said “you can make more friends in two weeks being interested in other people than in two years trying to get them interested in you” Yet so often we retain these well known philosophies for business purposes only.
Casual Networking and the Slim Laptop
In my book and seminars there is a section entitled “Casual, Incidental, By Chance Networking.”
It talks about those chance encounters that can lead to business, friendship or romance. I had the pleasure of meeting a recent client in exactly this way. I was on a business trip, one of 52 I have taken this year, when I started a conversation with an elegant gentleman sitting on my left. The conversation starter was the noticeable slimness of his laptop.
